  • How Does School Really Benefit Me and My Future?

Description: Sadly, many low to moderate income students find it difficult to remain motivated and focused on school. Sometimes, with little support and few resources, school can even appear to be a waste of time for students who are at risk of failure. In this session, students will have the opportunity to explore reasons for obtaining a quality education and ways in which they can take a more active role in their own educational process in order to ensure greater motivation, focus, and success in both their education and future.
Participants: Middle & High School Students

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control, many minority and low income parents may not have the knowledge and/or resources needed for helping their children to receive a quality education and a successful future. Our workshops will leave parents feeling empowered to make a more positive and effective difference in their children’s education and future!
  • How Do I Develop an Effective Support System for My Child and Our Family?

Description: With so many people quick to criticize our parenting skills and the many different professional
opinions, it’s often hard to know where to turn for help when developing a strong support system for your child and your family. This session will allow parents to evaluate the effectiveness of those within their family’s support structure as well as additional resources to be included in their existing support system so that their family continues to build a strong foundation.
Participants: Parents/Guardians of children ages 0-20
  • What Else Can I Do to Prepare My Child for a Successful Education and Future?

Description: When it comes to parenting, many parents do the best they can with the knowledge and skills they possess and the resources they have at their fingertips. This workshop will not only affirm much of what parents are doing now, but will also provide them with additional strategies for helping their children to have a successful education and future. Parents will also learn about and discuss topics in education such as state testing and college preparation as they gain important information for becoming involved in their child’s education beyond fundraisers, field trips, school activities, and parent conferences.
Participants: Parents/Guardians of children ages 0-20
  • How Can I Improve My School’s Climate?

Description: School climate is key to student success. Educators have an important role to play in providing a positive learning and work environment. This session will allow educators to explore how special education, classroom management, differentiated instruction, parental involvement, community support, school/district mission & vision, and individual beliefs work together to make a positive impact on education
and school climate.
Participants: Pre-school, Elementary, Middle, and High School Personnel
